Beautiful photography

No clever headline needed here, just an homage to some wonderful work.

Produced by Shinichi Maryuma, a photographer born in Japan but now based in America, these images form part of a project entitled Gardens and are the artists attempt at recreating the personal enlightenment often discovered within a Zen garden.

There's also this short video to roughly show how these images were achieved:

The force is strong with these two

I received these two brilliant posters off of my mate Sal at work the other day. Being a complete Star Wars geek they were right up my alley. Unfortunately I don't know who produced them but, whoever you are, I'm loving your work.

Trey bon

Came across this awesome video created by Trey Ratcliff, the now famous photographic blogger, upon arriving home from an 80 day global trip. It documents the entire journey through the 8000 photographs, put together and animated in HDR video. It's really beautiful and hats off to the music choice too. Check it out below and for more info on Trey and HDR visit www.stuckincustoms.com.

Here's one for you, Fanboy

Leafing through Creative Review the other day I came across an interesting article about movie posters and the painstaking process designers have to go through in order to get their work approved within this arena - I sympathise, I really do.

However, within this article was featured some of the spectacular work produced by Olly Moss. Instantly I was drawn into three posters in particular, those for the Star Wars movies episodes 4-6. Now, I love all things Star Wars so these posters were right up my alley, but even if you're not a fan of the movies you surely can't help but fall in love with these...

Boba fett's face made out of Cloud city. The twin moons of Tatooine forming C3PO's eyes. Genius right?

But that's only the half of it. One look on his website, www.ollymoss.com, and you'll be totally hooked on what he does and how he does it. I'm a massive fan now so I tracked down some other examples of my favourite movies.

I suggest you take a look for yourselves and find yours.

Nice one, Muvva.

Babies are boring. They are, and everyone knows it. I'm not talking about toddlers or young children, just babies. All they do is cry, sleep, cry, eat a bit and cry some more, turning their parents into gibbering shadows of their former selves and their lives about as interesting as their offspring.

Except for Adele Enersen, a young mother from Finland who has refused to allow the trauma of parenthood to halt the flow of her more creative juices. So, as baby Enersen blissfully sleeps, Adele sets to work making these rather charming and clever works of art. Well, it beats washing soiled muslins and sterilising the entire house.

Nice one indeed.

Kingdom comes

I'm excited. This week I booked some tickets for myself and a few work colleagues for one the D&AD's upcoming lectures. This would be something to look forward to under any circumstances but this particular lecture is being given by one of the worlds most talented and exciting agencies, the truly brilliant North Kingdom.

Responsible for ground-breaking and innovative work on brands such Adidas, Diesel, LG and Toyota they really are on a creative level to inspire anyone to reach. Check out there brilliance at www.northkingdom.com.

I first came across them when I was emailed a beautiful game that they created based around the idea of a family of thieves stealing milk and attempting to get back to the safety of their hide-out, it was called Get the Glass. Graphically it's superb and the animation on each of the characters really funny. I thought it was a great idea and really tuned me in to the brilliance of the agency. Check it out.

So I can't wait to see what they have to say and, more importantly, what I can take on board and learn from them. The lecture is on May 12th and should you like the sound of it, tickets can be purchased through the D&AD at the following link:

In the meantime, here's a taste of just what North Kingdom are capable of...

The great outdoors

Summer's coming! I know it doesn't necessarily feel like it but it's March now so if spring's around the corner then Summer's just up the street past the postbox. All of which means getting outdoors again. And what better way to celebrate our reemergence into the daylight then with a collection of the very best outdoor creative of the last five decades.

Campaign magazine, along with Outdoor Media have put such a collection together and they've called it the Outdoor Hall of Fame. It's a superb look back over some truly amazing creative ideas and is well worth a view. You can find it at www.outdoorhalloffame.co.uk. Once there you can vote for your very favourites.

I've been looking through it and here's some of mine.

And how about this classic? Now over 100 years old...

Great stuff, get on there and get voting.
