A lovely visual tribute to our completely on fire captain. Where would we be without him? I shudder to think.

Sex isn't an accident
Remember this excellent print campaign for MTV promoting the use of condoms?
Well, the campaign seems to have been extended into 3 short TV spots which have, naturally, found their way on to YouTube.
Don't know about you, but I'm a little underwhelmed with them, especially considering how much I liked the print stuff. Why have they changed the illustration style for a start? Or the comic strip layout and feel? I'm pretty sure this could've been incorporated.
I'm all for moving a campaign on but don't forget the things that made it so appealing in the first place.

We need a Christmas idea!
We've all heard it from our bosses, the immortal words muttered merely days before the Christmas break that send shivers down our spines.
"We need to send our customers a Christmas greeting...and lets make it digital."
So you quickly cobble something together, it gets passed around the world and his wife before they decide it's rubbish.
"Of course it's rubbish," you cry, "you've given me half a minute to create something and a budget of 15p!"
So, dejected and furious you go back to the drawing board and come up with something else. Miraculously this gets approved and out it goes with you feeling less than satisfied and vowing never to be involved with anything even vaguely Christmassy ever again.
And then you receive something in an email that reignites your passion for all things Yule Tide.
And here it is...

Next year...next year we'll do it properly.

Unhate
Here's a nice new campaign from Benetton.
People are invited to 'combat the culture of hatred' within society and love rather than hate. It's a good return to controversial form for a brand that had gone rather bland in recent years and one that I really rather like. The visuals for these posters are great.

There's also a short film to accompany the campaign, directed by Laurent Chanez.
And even some social media activity, including Kiss The Wall, where users are invited to upload pictures of themselves kissing.

Bare Essentials
I love these.
They've been floating around for a while and I've been meaning to include them on here.
Created by Dutch graphic designer Dennis De Groot, they're a collection of 50 images portraying some of the most recognisable pop-culture characters and vehicles.
Here's a select few, see how many you recognise.

The Walken Dead
I love the Walking Dead, loved the first series and am currently loving the second.
So when I came across this it was no surprise that I rather liked it too, especially the Triceratops line.

The Vet and The n00b
This trailer for Call of Duty MW3 is doing the rounds.
I really like it.
Firstly it gives you a good flavour for what you're getting if you buy the game, although those likely to buy it probably bought the previous two so know very well already.
Secondly it's pretty funny, anything with Jonah Hill (apart from Sirus) is in my humble opinion. I love the bit with the land mine.
But mostly it's a really solid idea. The thought that there's a soldier in all of us is ridiculously appealing and taps in perfectly to how any 12-35 year old male would like to view himself - as well I'm sure as a fair few females too.
Leave aside Jonah's lack of trademark curls or his slightly bizarre lack of heft, his former shape and hairstyle probably doesn't marry up to the role of bad ass soldier, and you're left with a really great piece of work.
Having said all that, mind you, still won't make buy the game, right now I've got my hands full with this instead...

Another day, another Star Wars related blog
This time courtesy of my friend Ed at work who sent me this image of a Star Wars typeface, created by Society 6.
Some of them have got me slightly confused as to who they depict so if you know who M, U, V and X are you're an even bigger fan than I am.
Like it though.

Where are we going?
A good question and here's a beautiful answer created by David Coiffier, a camerman, editor and videographist. You can find futher examples of his and others like him on the Pixels Revenge website.
How much does the internet weigh?
It's immeasurable surely?
No it ain't and this guy's worked it all out - super geeky but seriously interesting.

Ad of the moment
It has to be the latest offering from Volkswagen and their Think Blue campaign. A simple idea but executed perfectly with beautiful animation and a classic track. Really love it.

Yeo Valley
Saw this ad on Saturday night during one of the breaks for the X Factor (don't judge me, my wife watches it!). God knows what they had to pay for the spot but I reckon it will have been well worth it, the ad's absolute genius.
And somehow I missed this one first time around...
Big up your chest, represent the west!

Conflicted
There is a campaign running on TV at the moment that I can't quite make my mind up about. There are certain things within it that I quite like and others that I really don't. For instance, the casting and most of how it's written, I like. Whereas, the rest of how it's written and the tacky looking effects, I don't like at all. Nor do I like that incredibly annoying voice-over-guy that seems to be on every bloody ad, promo or reality show these days.
The campaign in question is for Money Supermarket and it's got me seriously conflicted.

Got sent this rather nice ad created by JWT London, it's an awareness campaign for male cancer.
Introducing Miss Phoebe Solomons
I just had to post this clip of my friend Robbie's daughter.
To set the scene, the only calls Robbie and his wife Alice get on their houseline are either asking for the previous owner or those really annoying call centres. Having become increasingly fed up answering such calls, Robbie now hands the phone over to his 18 month old daughter, Phoebe.
On this particular occasion he decided to record it - and the result is very, very funny.
So, without further ado, I give you Miss Phoebe Solomons...
